I started out as an inventor with a concept, fishing lures that look more like real fish. I’ve taken that concept into a company with six figure sales, doing all the tasks of an entrepreneur taking on investors, writing a business plan, negotiating contracts with investors, manufactures, manufactures sales representatives and distributors. I’ve created packaging and promotional strategy and a marketing plan to launch the product. I started consulting with Don Debelak when I had just a few prototypes. Don gave me advice and counseling at every step in the process, keeping me on a level keel and explaining what steps I needed to do next and what type of response I was likely to receive. Don played a key role as an advisor and was an valuable asset during the entire introduction process. Even after I launched my product, Don was there to help me trouble shoot all of the new challenges I ran into.

My first contact with Don Debelak was to do a product evaluation for me. I wanted to be sure my my product was worth pursuing. The evaluation was worth its weight in gold and not only did it find the Pop-up MicroLite to be a good product idea but it gave me some great ideas on how to proceed with my idea. I was originally planning on starting with small catalog sells but Don suggested that we instead think bigger and pursue a private-label agreement with a large video rental chain such as Blockbuster. After presenting the product to Blockbuster they were indeed interested. Don continues to offer valuable advice as we continue. I can't even imagine attempting the massive task of getting a new product on the market without having the expert advice of Don Debelak!

I'm sure you frequently receive compliments on your book, Bringing Your Product To Market. Well, here is another one! I bought the book many years ago - perhaps in 1999. I have read it completely through several times - and still do - as it is filled with so much common sense and great ideas.

I am at a point now where I am about to have my push rake manufactured - with funding from a local (Ottawa, Ontario) investor-led company. Your book has been at my side during my preparations for all of the negotiations, and I have referred to it several times even when talking to my IP lawyer...who has also had good things to say about it!

I sometimes get a little frustrated with the slow progress my path has taken, as I'm sure we all do on occasion, and I just go back and read the pertinent chapter in you book and find that this is perfectly normal.

No matter what path my rake takes me on I learned on heck of a lot. Naturally I am expecting great things from my innovation - but I am totally prepared for both good and bad.

Anyway, I encourage my like-minded friends to buy it and read it cover-to-cover before they make any decisions on how to get their ideas into the market.

I started consulting with Don Debelak when I just had a rough prototype, today I have my product being sold through seven distributors around the country. Don helped me finalize my product design, set up my distributor network, prepare contracts, do point of purchase displays and promotional programs and establish pricing.

Our company joined the catalog marketing program offered by dondebelak.com (now onestopinventionshop.net) over two years ago. To date the program has sold significant numbers of products through one of the major industry catalogs for kitchen products. Don is knowledgeable about the mail order industry, very easy to work with, and the cost is very reasonable. My business partner and I found out about T2 design on the internet and made the call to Paul Berman shortly thereafter… Paul has a friendly/quirky demeanor to him (that most genius/creative types have) and right away we knew we had our man.
